Bottle Caps

Bottling beer before we had to postpone the wedding ceremony. . . again.

Bottling beer before we had to postpone the wedding ceremony. . . again.

Here’s what would have been on the menu:

Purple cap - blackberry hefeweizen (Paul)

Gold cap - coffee cream ale (me)

Orange cap - orange julius IPA (Paul)

Black cap - cascadian dark ale (me)

I put together the CDA recipe and it came out nearly perfect the first time; it could use a heavier dry hopping, but overall I’m proud of it.

The blackberry hefe is perfect; it’s our friend's recipe, but Paul has brewed it three times now and this last one is by far the most delicious yet.

The orange julius honestly tastes like the beer version of orange juice and I hate it, but every other beer hipster loves a weird IPA. Since we have another year now before our ceremony, I'm hoping we'll come up with a light lager to replace it: another crowd pleaser, but one I can respect.

I originally wanted to make a coffee kolsch a la Dog Days Brewing, but it didn’t seem to keep in the bottle very well, so I switched to a more basic ale yeast. I plan to keep working on this recipe, but might take a left turn and find another style I can dump a quart of cold brew into. Has anyone done a coffee amber??

We haven’t brewed in over a month because of other projects around the house, but we plan to start again in a month or two and luckily we have plenty of beer to tide us over.
